February Staff Shout-Outs

April Goft, School Counselor at 10th and Green Elementary - April went above and beyond (yet again)!! She single-handedly put together a grade-wide contest for Groundhog's day. She incorporated the groundhog into things that people can do to positively interact with others. Then, the students drew pictures and explained how they feel people can positively interact. Next, she coordinated with a local radio DJ to be the guest/honorary judge. Unfortunately, the judge was unable to make it to the school due to a new position at the radio station. No worries, because April coordinated, yet again, with the DJ, and April DROVE TO PUNXATAWNEY, PA to meet with the DJ and get over 50 people to vote for their grade winners. In preparation for this, she got a shirt AND a stuffed groundhog for each winner. People may say that this is extreme, but this is an example of what April does on a daily basis to ensure that her students feel special. Reading School District and 10th and Green Elementary are EXTREMELY FORTUNATE and we are extremely grateful that she is a part of our team!

Jo Okonski, 7th Grade Science Teacher at Northwest Middle School - Mr. Okonski represents our school well! He is passionate about his students, their learning, and their lives. He provides solid advice and loyal service as a Union Rep. Students and staff are blessed to have him in the building!

Collin Gooby, Learning Support Teacher at Northwest Middle School - Gooby is a team player! He is always willing to cover, help with testing, lending an ear or providing opportunities for laughter to students and staff members. He is an AMAZING addition to NWMS!

Kari Wink, Principal at Millmont Elementary School - You're a role model for us in both leadership and kindness. Best Principal Ever!!

Andrea Salsanio, Reading Specialist at Glenside Elementary - To say that Andrea is passionate about reading is an understatement! She is constantly researching and sharing all of the latest information about how kids learn to read. She seeks solutions in a team-oriented approach instead of simply mandating that teachers change the way they do things. She is a great problem-solver and collaborator, and I love working with her at Glenside!! Thanks, Andrea!

Irnette Gonzalez, District Translator at the ROCC - A big thank you for your kindness and thoughtfulness with our parents, and for always making sure the information is communicated clearly and accurately. We truly appreciate you and all the amazing translators!
